Newsletter #3.  February 2007

Greetings to the Lovers of Bromeliads,
Enclosed are:-  Future Conferences meeting.
Request for a list of your qualified judges.
Plant rules for show, display and competition.
            Alternate accommodations.
            Raffle # 2 tickets

As Bob had his 70th birthday in December and I was in need of a mind picture of Port Macquarie, I dipped further into my three son’s inheritance and took Bobby to Port.
Rydges Hotel is very comfortable and the attentive staff spoiled us.

Port is a lovely place, so much to do and see in easy walking distance of the venue. The township is a mix of functioning historic, old and new buildings.  We were amazed at how many residents wandered in and out of the hotel with their fishing rods in hand!

Shopping is easy walking on flat ground and any type of food you desire can be purchased close by – delicious seafood, Aussie and Asian fare to satisfy any hunger.

Rydges Hotel is on the waterfront where you can see the dolphins play.
There are camel rides, cruises including whale watching, all types of water sports and water excursions, wineries.
There are easy walking tracks around the waterfront.
There is a step back in time at the charming historic Timbertown at Wauchope.
I started out to do a conference for about 150 delegates “especially for those members who cannot for many reasons come to Cairns in June 2008 to attend the 18th World Bromeliad Conference”.
The seminar room can hold 170 delegates and 200 for Banquet.

Registrations:
I am fully aware that some bromeliad lovers are saving their money for WBC 18 Cairns in June 2007.
To 31/1/07 I have registrations for 72 Delegates and 80 for the Banquet and I know more intend to attend. The count will be adjusted daily.

Once I reach 170 Delegates, no further registrations will be accepted.
For those who want to pay by direct debit: BSB 034-664 20-4263 Westpac, Cairns Central.
“Cairns Bromeliad Society Inc. Conference Account”.

Bus Trips:
As I cannot find any local growers who live close to the venue I cannot organize a gardens tour.
There are many attractions and available trips in the immediate area within easy walking distance from the hotel.
We will provide a list with discounted charges for all attendees.

Book Sales:
There will be a book sale table and the normal 20% reduction will apply.

New Release Hybrids:
Should any delegate have any new hybrids for release, please contact me so I can give it good exposure both before and during the conference.
